Fall 2016 10x10 - Outfits 1 & 2

These two outfits are fairly different looks even though they both incorporate my Clyde Pants. One more structured and the other oversized.

This first look is one of my favorites in my wardrobe. The weather has been fluctuating greatly in Chicago and I feel that this outfit is light enough to compete with warmer temperatures but still has an air of fall. I also love the jumpsuit effect with the matching top and pants. I would love to own the perfect jumpsuit one day but until then I'm fine with crafting my own.

The second look is my put together oversized. Or organized chaos. The turtleneck is baggy with a high/low hem and the pants have a looser than normal fit. But by keeping it in a simple black and white color scheme, pairing a classic shoe and black accessories, it seems much more sophisticated than it really is. The first outfit I would go to a market in while this outfit I would wear to an art museum - maybe that's also just because turtlenecks always give me an artsy vibe.

Now here is a more in-depth look at the pieces to discuss why as well as size & fit :)

Starting with the top images

Elizabeth Suzann Petra Crop
This is a workhorse in my wardrobe. I first acquired it in the summer and now I'm happy to carry it over into fall. The hemp twill gives it a lovely structure while not feeling ridged. I am wearing size small and have washed it several times and it still fits me perfectly. As you probably already know this top is no longer sold on site but here are some other just as beautiful and responsible alternatives:
Ilana Kohn Kate Crop top $165
Hackwith Design House Lindy Tank $81

Madewell Graduate Cardigan
Cardigans are the key transition piece whether going from spring to summer or summer to fall. Unfortunately I've had a hard time finding the perfect sustainable cardigan that is exactly the way I want but Madewell is my steady back up. Pairing this olive cardigan with my neutral mimic jumpsuit is really what makes it fall. This is only my second time but I've found with these challenges that just one piece can completely change an outfit. Usually for me that one piece is my shoe choice but in this case it's a cardigan. I'm currently wearing size small in the cardigan. I may have been able to do an x-small but I wanted to make sure I could layer.

Elizabeth Suzann Clyde Work Pants
Another summer fave that's come over for fall! I get a lot of questions about my sizing of these pants and I actually gave my full review of the Clyde pants before but for a quick FYI I am wearing size 4 regular. I have noticed that the pants do stretch out a little which is only natural being cotton. I may have been able to get away with a size 2 but I really love the oversized feel.

Everlane Modern Loafers
My new favorite shoe. I love my current oxfords so much and knew a loafer was the next step in building a strong foundation. Honestly I couldn't believe I don't already own a loafer! I have been looking at the Everlane loafers for a while now but just never felt comfortable pulling the trigger. I also couldn't decided between going more classic with black or something a little different with the pewter or olive color - I seriously probably put these in my cart 100 different times switching back and forth between colors. Finally while I was looking on Poshmark someone posted a black pair in my size and it was 1/3 the original price! The stars aligned and I got my loafers. That was a long story for these shoes but it was so exciting to find a sustainable shoe second hand!

Now a quick note on sizing: I'm a solid size 7 and the 7 1/2 fit me perfectly. A tiny bit narrow towards the top of my foot but I've been wearing invisible socks and I've already walked a little in them and they are molding beautifully. In conclusion, if you're looking for loafers get these.

Madewell Black Turtleneck
Super cozy and from last season - when madewell was in their split hem/high-low phase. This sweater is my "dressy" piece for when it's too cold to get me in a dress but I still want to look like I did a little sumthin-sumthin. It works beautifully. This sweater is an x-small for reference. I'm generally an extra small in Madewell but sometimes it depends. Here are some other sustainable options for turtlenecks if you're looking to add one to your wardrobe.
Everlane Cashmere Turtleneck $135
Esby Ali Rib Turtleneck $165
Hackwidth Design House Swing Cowl Sweater $190 - a little different but so beautiful I had to share

Small note on accessories - I love blending black with earth tones! The sunglasses are the Super Duper Sunglasses by Karen Walker, tote is the Classic Leather Zipper Tote by Cuyana and the watch is the Classic Sheffield by Daniel Wellington

Hope you enjoyed my first two looks and I'm excited to share my next two tomorrow!

Cheers!
