Duster Love

Hello Tuesday! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! Last weekend we visited River's parents in Michigan to celebrate Thanksgiving a little early. I really enjoy having Thanksgiving early since traveling during normal Thanksgiving time can get so crazy and expensive. But that trip kicked off a full month and a half of weekend plans!

Next weekend we are taking a quick trip to Seattle, then my mom is coming to visit and then River's mom is spending the next weekend in Chicago! And before you know it it will be Christmas! Amazing how time flies so quickly.

This year I really want to make sure I'm present for every moment so the end of the year - my favorite time of year - doesn't slip away. This means I need to take a step back and try to simplify all the areas that I can in life. Since wardrobe happens to be my main area of focus I'm going to start there.

To keep things simple I'm going to be leaning on my closet heroes now more than ever.  But to jazz it up a bit I'm adding a third dimension by means of a duster.

If you've been following along and can recall my fall wishlist, this duster was on there. It was more of a wish than a need but it has become one of my favorite pieces to style and will be in my closet for years to come. I'm already thinking about adding a light color version to my wardrobe for spring and summer!

This specific duster that I'm wearing is from Black Crane and I actually found it on a secondhand site - shocker - and just had to pull the trigger. This is my first piece from Black Crane and I absolutely love it. The length is perfect - just below my knees - so it elongates my legs which is always a good thing. I also love how it has slits on the sides that give it movement and you don't feel too constrained or wrapped up in once long piece of fabric. This guy also has pockets! How wonderful. And the raw hem edging - which is a signature in Black Crane's collections - adds just enough detail to make it interesting without feeling overdone. Sadly this piece was secondhand but keep your eyes open in case another is circling out there. I've also linked to similar options - and some more conducive to colder temps - below!

Outfit: black crane duster vest (s/o, similar here & more cool weather appropriate here & love this denim version!) / madewell boyfriend flannel shirt / madewell boyfriend jeans (old, similar here) / madewell billie boot (absolutely love this sustainable option, maybe some day) / cuyana tote (obsessed with) / daniel wellington watch / karen walker sunglasses

My favorite thing about this outfit is that it's really very simple. A cozy flannel shirt - with pockets! - boyfriend jeans and black ankle boots. But by adding the duster vest the outfit has so much more intrigue.

Hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by :)

Cheers!
