My Next Mini Closet
The way overdue fall capsule is here! This one was definitely fun to plan. I had a strong desire for warm earth tones + black accents and I love how it turned out. I would say camel is definitely the most prevalent color in my wardrobe this season.
I thought it would be interesting for this go-around to show the breakdown of new (being I purchased for this capsule), old & sustainably made pieces in my wardrobe in efforts to be more transparent about my closet. So here it is:
Of 31 Items (3 of of these pieces have been ordered & are not shown)
39% sustainably made
I would like to up that percentage of sustainably made. I think the short term - meaning like a couple years - goal would be 50/50. However, to accomplish that I would either
A. look for a sustainable alternative to a piece that needs to be replaced or B. only look at sustainable or second hand options if I want to add something new to my closet.
I’m not going to get rid of clothes if I like them and they are perfectly adequate. In my mind that would completely contradict the concept of sustainable. But taking those two above steps will help me even out that ratio a bit in the future.
Now for the actual items!
A much needed item in chilly Chicago! All of my sweaters are old but I did try and find similar styles. If you see one you really like I suggest looking of Poshmark just in case!
Top to Bottom, Left to Right: madewell black turtleneck (old, similar here) / madewell camel sweater (old, similar here) / zara oversized sweater (old, similar in grey) / free people softly v sweater (old, similar here) / madewell sweater (old, kind of similar style here) / free people softly v sweater (old, similar here) I liked it so much I bought two!
I know, the actual tops here seem a little light. And it kind of is. I already know of one more blouse I’m going to add to my capsule but I might see if 5 pieces is just enough. I think cardigans will be some of my hardest working pieces in the next couple months and plan to add a black one to my wardrobe.
Top to Bottom, Left to Right: zara olive blouse (old, similar here) / madewell white tank (s/o similar) / aritzia olive cardigan / elizabeth suzann petra crop (only available until October 4th!) / elizabeth suzann black linen georgia top / elizabeth suzann emma kimono in linen / h&m camel cardigan (old, similar here)
Pants & Skirts
I think I rounded these out well. Only duplication is two pair of regular skinnies - the third is high waist. I'm excited to style the ES skirt into fall!
Top to Bottom, Left to Right: elizabeth suzann skirt (only available until October 4th!) / elizabeth suzann clyde pant / AG medium wash skinny jeans / AG black skinny jeans / Joe's Jeans high waist (old, similar here) / madewell boyfriend jeans (old, similar here) / elizabeth suzann florence pants in linen
I have two brown boots in here - in case you didn’t notice. Not very minimal but I honestly couldn’t decide. There’s colors are very different and one pair has a slight western vibe. We’ll see how this one turns out. The rest are fairly simple. A flat in black a flat in brown, a transitional pair of clogs & white sneakers.
Top to Bottom, Left to Right: madewell black ankle boots / madewell oxfords (old, similar sustainable style from Everlane) / swedish hasbeens clogs (found second hand!, similar style) / dv by dolce vita ankle boots (old, similar here) / veja esplar extra white tennies / target black flats (very old, similar here) / madewell brown ankle boots
Coats & Jackets
I think I pretty much have every area covered here. Jackets: casual jean, dressy leather. Coats: casual muppet coat, a little dressier oversized coat - not pictured but on it's way from Only Child! Overall very happy with this combination.
So there is my curated fall closet! I'm trying to come up with a different name other than "capsule". We'll see. I'm super excited for my first fall capsule. I'm also excited to share my favorite outfits and things I learn along the way! If anyone of you have created a mini closet for fall I'd love to see it!
