SPRING 2017 10x10: LOOK 2
So life happened. Right when I kick off my 10x10 I get a cold! So I’ve been working from home under blankets and surrounded by tissues, cats and tea. This unfortunate event has also led to a slight delay in outfit post. I’m going to make it up to you and get back on track by either carrying my one a day outfits posts into Saturday or doing a two in one day. We’ll see! But for today I’m happy to share look number 2 from my challenge! My initial thoughts and some outfit callouts below!
Initial thoughts...I LOVE this look. My first look was refined and clean but this feels fun and unexpected. Maybe it's because of the unexpected unbottoned dress/shirt/duster, the raw hem jeans or the straw hat that has a small nod to summer. I also didn't completely escape black in this look. I did use it to provide so contrast & tie in the black band in my hat. I still thinking I'm winning when it comes to the "no black for 10 days games." Now lets dive into some specifics.
| DRESS/SHIRT | - I have a dress in my 10x10! I struggle with making my dresses versatile (and finding dresses that fit my style) so I thought starting with a basic white shirt dress would be a way to ease in. I actually purchased this dress from the Style Bee closet sale and absolutely love it! I especially love it as a top layer in this look. I was worried that wearing an open dress over an outfit would look too awkward or resemble a lab coat. But I think it blends in nicely. It plays a more duster role than unbuttoned shirt or open dress. So far I’m really digging it.
| ALL THE DETAILS | - there are a bunch of little things that balance out this look. First we have the hat that highlights the top, the button fly + tucked in top draws your eyes to my waist and finally the raw edge on the jeans draws your eye downwards. It's like a detail sandwich! I love symmetry and cohesion so these little things make me happy :)
| PROPORTIONS | - I have my standard high waist + tucked in top but I love the addition of the dress. It hits me in the middle of my thigh which elongates my whole silhouette. The heels also help a little bit with that longness ;)
