SUMMER 10x10 - OUTFIT 10
Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a lovely and relaxing weekend. We are at T-minus 2 days from our move! I keep touching on this but it's pretty much the biggest thing happening in our lives right now. I have so many emotions crammed in me. I'm extremely excited for the road ahead (pun intended, we're driving) but I'm sad to be leaving Chicago. Aside from college (which I'm not fully counting) Chicago was my big girl move. I decided to move here after school because I wanted to live in a big city. Now fast forward 5 years and it's another big girl move to Portland! This time with a husband and two kitties in tow :)
I'll be honest and say having your life disheveled has been a little rough and it's just going to get worse before it gets better. But to keep my spirits up I keep telling myself "these are the exciting times!" Which they really are even when you're spackling the wall at 1AM. On a much more fun note, I'll be sharing a specific post on my road trip outfits and what it was like to live out of a suitcase for 30 days in the next couple weeks. All that I ask is that you bare with me and thank you so much for being here :)
Anyways, here we are at the final outfit of my summer 10x10! This challenge has been so much fun and I'll be sharing more details in a wrap up post soon! For now lets get into outfit thoughts, style notes and where you can find these pieces :)
This look is super comfy but I'm not 100% sold on the color combination. It is a very harsh contrast for me. I also worry about the jumpsuit showing underneath the top. It's a personal pet peeve of mine and can be one of the challenges with layering. But overall I'm happy with the look and love the symetry between the wide leg pants and flowy top!
| CROP TOP OVERLAY | - layering a crop top over a jumpsuit or dress can be tricky. I have several crop tops that I thought would look great over a dress or one piece but the length of the crop didn’t hit me right. The blank canvas top is a little more cropped on me than I anticipated but it has been a great layering piece. I find that crops that hit me right at my natural waist look best when layered over other pieces. So to make sure my crops are as versatile as they can be I usually look for ones that hit me at my natural waist and that have sleeves or thick straps so they can be layered.
| BLACK AND EARTH TONES | - pairing black with this umber shade is a very dark contrast for me. Normally I wouldn’t pair these two colors together without a lighter element. However, I’m liking the change and I always enjoy trying something different. This feels a little Halloween to me but might be a color combination I explore more in fall :)
| EVERYDAY LOOK | - this look is so comfortable and effortless. The oversized silhouette keeps it relaxed and casual. I could easily see myself wearing this combination every day. If you're going for ease I recommend looking for oversized silhouettes in relaxed natural fabrics!
| FORMULA FOR FALL | - through this challenge I think I discovered one of my fall uniforms: oversized crop top + wide leg pant + flats or ankle boots
This is something that I want to play around with more but I’m thinking earth tone tops and black wide leg bottoms with a nice neutral shoe!
