And last but not least, the urban component.
As I’m thinking about this outfit I’m realizing that it only really feels “urban” because of the tennies and beanie. Funny how an accessory and pair of shoes can change everything.
But I love changing up an outfit and creating a completely different vibe by switching out ankle boots for white sneakers. Makes it sporty and adds a little more edge. I’ve always been attracted to slightly edgier pieces. And even though I’m trying to hone in my personal style, I still want to keep a little contrast in the mix.
Another piece that would definitely fit into this “different” category is my leather jacket. I have a slightly goofy more quiet personality so most people would probably not expect me to wear leather. But that’s why I enjoy it so much!
These contradicting elements seem to conflict with what a curated closet – that’s going to be my new name for capsule – is all about. But I always want to keep an air of freshness to my style. Something a little unexpected. So even though these wardrobes are planned, I hope to continue to have a piece or two – or an accessory – that’s a little outside of the norm.
Outfit: madewell camel sweater (old, similar here, responsibly made option here) / elizabeth suzann clyde pants (also in LOVE with these from the winter collection) / veja esplar extra white sneakers / gap handbag (extremely old, similar responsibly made style here) / zara beanie / warby parker sunglasses
Do any of you have any unexpected pieces in your wardrobe? Things that people wouldn’t expect you to wear but you love them anyways?
