Outfit No. 1 & 2 - Summer’16 10x10

I’m so excited to share my first two looks of my 10x10 challenge! You’ll notice in each pair of outfits I’m highlighting one piece of clothing. Focusing on one main item at a time helped me zero in on all of the potential looks I could create with the remaining pieces. And for this beautiful rust crop top these two looks were the winners!

Since I received this top it has been worn non-stop - pardon my little rhyme there :) . The fabric has a checkered texture which adds depth but it still maintains a light and airy feel that doesn’t make you overheat. It’s been a great go-to for errands or dressing up.

I’m also really loving the high-waist + crop top silhouette - I know...I’m very late to this game. But frankly I didn’t think this combination would work for my body type. I’m a slight pear shape with wider hips and having a high waist just accentuates that. So here’s my dilemma I’m going to share with all of you...everyone says to dress for your body type - which makes sense because then your clothes will highlight your best assets - but what if you feel great in something that technically “wouldn’t be right” for your body type?

Personally I’m leaning towards wearing what feels good - as long as you’re not over exposed ;) I really enjoy high waist and crop top outfits so I’m going to rock it!

So my new philosophy is: yes, keep in mind what looks best on your body but don’t let that shy you away from something you truly enjoy wearing!
