Happy Monday! I’m not 100% ready to start this week but I’m excited to start this challenge! It’s nice to only have 10 items to choose from. Makes getting dressed super easy and I already have my outfits planned out 🙂

Just in case you missed it, I’m joining Lee from Style Bee & Caroline from Un-fancy for their Summer 10×10 challenge. If these challenges are new to you, I give a brief run down in my Summer 10×10 intro post and Lee has a great tutorial here.

So here is my first outfit! I’ll take you through my styling tips and thoughts on this first look and then share where you can get some of these items for less 🙂

| PALETTE | – I love the caramel contrast with the navy in this outfit. It is a much softer version of my normal combination: caramel/cognac, black & white. I also kind enjoy how my hair becomes a color blocking element in this look! It adds a nice symmetry and I never really noticed it before this outfit! I never pay much attention to my hair (if you couldn’t tell) but it just goes to show how it can be a nice “accessory” to your outfit.

| LENGTH | – I’d been pining for a midi skirt for a long time but was always worried that the length would be unflattering. But this skirt hits me just a little bit above my ankles which keeps me long and not awkwardly chopped. I also like showing off a little ankle in this look. If the skirt had been a full maxi I think it would have felt too “heavy” and more formal. The crop keeps it light and airy which is perfect for summer.

| FULL TUCK | – At first I didn’t have this blouse tucked it and hated the look. There was no shape to it at all. But by completely tucking in the top it created a focal point around the thinnest part of my waist which made it much more flattering. Also the waistband on this skirt is a dream. It’s a nice wide band that isn’t too restricting and ES goes the extra mile to ensure that the elastic in the band doesn’t get twisted. A+ in my book.

| FRONT DETAIL | – I didn’t need a necklace for this look because of the front pleating on this top. Actually, in general I never wear a necklace with this top! The pleats add a natural dimension that is super subtle a nice detail. I may try a necklace over it some day but it may feel too crowded. I opted for earrings instead and kept the jewelry more on the minimal side. If you aren’t much of a jewelry person though, I recommend looking for tops that have some sort of front detail to add interest to your outfit!

Hi, love this outfit! Question- I clicked the link to the adorable earrings you’re wearing, and I see they are made of brass. I know the posts aren’t made of brass, so that’s good because I have sensitive ears. But I’m wondering, does the brass earring itself turn your ear lobes blue or green?

      Hi Stacy,
I haven’t noticed any skin color change when I wear the earrings. With that being said, I do know some materials act differently for different skin types. If you’re concerned about the brass I’m sure you could reach out to Seaworthy and ask them about their return policy and express your concerns. They’re a great group of people and I’m sure they would be happy to help you out!
      xo Allison
