Hello Friday! Today I’m super excited because it is kick off day for the fall 10×10 challenge! Once again Lee from Style Bee and Caroline from Unfancy are teaming up for a 10×10 challenge! Every season I get a huge rush of inspiration from all of the wonderful ladies that participate in this challenge. It’s like a creative jumpstart that I always crave at this point in a season.
In today’s post I wanted to share a short description of what the #10x10challenge is, an app to help you with your 10×10, my goals for this challenge & my picks for the next 10 days. So without further delay let’s get started because this ones a bit of a doozy! 🙂
10×10 Challenge Intro + Cladwell
In short, this challenge is all about picking 10 items from your closet, making 10 outfits with those 10 items and wearing those 10 outfits for 10 days! Super, duper, simple. Here’s a little list of what to include and some outlines to help get you started if you’re new!
Included: tops, bottoms, sweaters, dresses, skirts, outerwear, shoes
Not Included: jewelry, hats, scarves, gloves, handbags
1. (my mix) 2 pants, 3 sweaters, 2 tops, 1 blazer, 2 shoes
2. 2 pants, 2 tops, 2 sweaters, 1 dress, 1 outerwear, 2 shoes
3. 2 pants, 3 tops, 1 sweaters, 1 dress, 1 outerwear, 2 shoes
4. 3 pants, 2 tops, 2 sweaters, 1 dress, 1 outerwear, 1 shoe
I’ve heard multiple people say that they don’t usually participate in the 10×10 challenge because they don’t want to put that much planning into what they’re going to wear for the next 10 days. I totally hear you. That’s why I’d like to introduce you to the Cladwell App.
I’ve actually been using the Cladwell App for several months now and it has been a major life saver. What this app does is it takes all of the pieces in your current capsule and gives you outfit of the day recommendations based on the weather in your area. How cool is that! You can build multiple capsules with the capsule manager which has been super helpful for when I’ve found a work horse in my closet and know that I want to keep it around for my next capsule. You can even create a separate wardrobe specific for your 10×10 challenges! Just add your 10 items into your closet and let the app create all of your 10 looks for you! So simple!
Also not sure if you’ve seen this but Cladwell partnered up with Morgan from The Garment Life and now some of the items from her past pop-ups are available in the app for you to add to your virtual capsules. SO AWESOME! We’re talkin Only Child, Pyne & Smith and many others! I love that these two worlds are coliding and making it even easier for consumers to think about sustainable options and see how those pieces can work in their closets.

My 10 Goals
This will be my second fall 10×10 and to be honest I wasn’t pleased with last year’s challenge. I tried to force a dress into my choices because I thought it would help me create more versatile outfits. This was definitely a wrong move but it helped me understand that I need to put even more thought into what I invest in and what silhouette works for my body type.
Also my style wasn’t in the same place as it is now. I’m starting to feel more refined and confident in being able to chose which pieces are “my style” and which ones aren’t. I think I still have a ways to go because style is something that grows and evolves as you do but I’m happy with the direction I’m going. So with that little bit of background knowledge here are my goals for this year’s fall challenge!
1. Refine my fall style.
2. Experiment more with my oversized blazer.
3. Come up with a new outfit formula for fall.
So now let’s see the final round up!
My 10 Items
For my 10×10 I wanted to include all of the colors that make up my capsule. I also wanted to hone in on pieces that are favorites as well as ones that I wanted to experiment with more. I find that mixing pieces that are already work horse favorites with ones that I’m still trying to figure out makes the getting dressed/styling process much more comfortable and easy.
measurements: height 5’5″, weight 130lbs 34C, 27 waist, 39 hip
| PRINT CROP TOP | north of west | made in portland, OR | size: small
You know me, I’m not a print girl. But I fell in love with this top when I saw it and it’s made right here in Portland! What really drew me to it was that the pattern is small and delicate and it is black and white. So it’s a nice change to my normal solid palette but still in my color comfort zone.
| OVERSIZED SWEATER | c/o vetta capsule | made in NYC | size: small
The Vetta team was gracious enough to send me this sweater to play around with. Even though I was gifted this item I truly loved it so much that I wanted to include it in my 10×10. This piece is seriously the most versatile item that I currently own. It’s a turtleneck, oversized crew neck sweater & cardigan. WOAH. I’ve already been styling and wearing it a ton (even on the plane to Chicago a couple weeks ago!) and it has been wonderful. Super excited to style it for this challenge and tell you a little more about it!
| OLIVE MOCK NECK SWEATER | madewell | gift from family member | size: small
I love the color of this sweater. It was a much welcome addition to my fall capsule! The material is light but still a sweater material which makes it super easy to tuck into pants or trousers.
| CROP MOCK NECK | everlane | made in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam | size: small
I love me a good base and this crop mock neck is just that. This pieces actually lives in my base capsule which I’ve been working on and will hopefully share some time in the future! This piece adds a nice bright element to my dark neutrals and rich fall colors that make up the rest of my 10×10.
| HOUNDSTOOTH BLAZER | etsy | vintage | size: 6P | similar ethically made
Since I’m wanting to play around with this piece more I thought that including it in my 10×10 would be the perfect opportunity. It’s another nice pattern to break up my rich solid colors.
| ANKLE BOOTS | rachel comey | purchased secondhand | size: 7
I wanted to have a balance of rich elements in my 10×10 so these boots were an obvious choice. I got them off of ebay for a steal and haven’t stopped wearing them since I received them!
| CROP CARDIGAN | everlane | made in Dongguan, China | size: small
Since both of my pants are high waisted I wanted one of my top layers to highlight that silhouette instead of cover it up. A black crop cardigan seemed like the perfect fit!
| CROPPED WIDE LEG PANTS | madewell | purchased secondhand | size: 27 (linked to same pant different color)
This is one item that I was waiting on while I created my fall capsule post. I’m obsessed with this cognac color. Combine that with a wide leg and crop length I’m all heart eyes.
| DAY HEEL | c/o everlane | made in Montopoli in Val D’Arno, Italy | size: 7
You’re probably sick of seeing these shoes but I wear them all of the time so it only made sense to include them! Plus going 10 days without them just really isn’t realistic 🙂
| SLIM CROP PANT | agolde | purchased secondhand | size: 26
Since I’m falling a little out of love with skinny jeans I’ve been looking for other alternatives besides wide legs. These pants are a refreshing alternative to the skinny jean. Crop cut and straight leg. It’s a lovely silhouette that I’m looking forward to playing around with more.
There you have it folks! If you’re joining the fall 10×10 challenge be sure to include #10x10friends, #fall10x10, #stylebee10x10 & unfancyremix in your instagram posts so I can see all of your outfits! Happy 10×10-ing! 🙂
