I love it when companies take classic “men” pieces and tweak them just ever so slightly to be the perfect lifetime piece for women. This oversized blazer from Everlane is a perfect example of this. It’s a piece that will easily stand the test of time and is great as a casual or business ready piece. Check below for my full review on this piece including fit, comfort and care!

Everlane Oversized Blazer Review

My first thought when I unwrapped this blazer was that it is really well made. You know when you can just tell a blazer is really nice? It has a good weight to it, the seams are beautifully finished and the fit is just right.

| ITEM | The Oversized Blazer

| BRAND | Everlane

| COST | $150

| FIT | my measurements: 5’5” weight 135lbs chest 34C, waist 27.5”, hips 40”
This blazer has the right amount of oversized which can be a tricky feat for a garment that is generally supposed to be form fitting. This blazer fits me perfectly in the shoulders and is the correct sleeve length. But the length is longer than your traditional blazer and the body of it has a little extra room (in a wonderful way). I can easily layer sweaters underneath but still have a blazer that fits me properly. Win win! I debated between ordering a size 4 or a size 2 for a while and opted for the size 2. I was nervous that the shoulders on the 4 would be too oversized for my shoulders. I probably could have gotten away with the 4 but happy I did the 2 for a more fitted look in the sleeves.

| DETAILS | I find that the tiny details are so important when it comes to classic pieces, especially when they’re solid black. This blazer has two side sleeve buttons and two front pockets which give it a beautiful classic look. There is also a functional inside pocket for your convenience & two functional outside pockets.

| COMFORT | I love that Everlane chose wool for this black blazer. It gives it a nice weight that feel luxurious without having to spend a ridiculous amount of money. It doesn’t feel stuffy or stiff and moves with me very easily.

| CARE | This will probably be an item that I spot clean and try to steam while I’m in the shower to freshen it up.

| STYLE | I’ve loved throwing this over my outfits as an alternative to a normal coat. I’ve always found my most interesting outfit combinations when I do that. I particularly love it paired with more relaxed basics like a tee shirt and sneakers but it would look great over a holiday dress or maybe with some wide leg long trousers and a classic vintage button up for a powerhouse look.

It looks good on you! I like the idea of a blazer but I worry it’s just like oxfords – vaguely preppy and just not my style. The non-functional pockets really get me too, I really believe in authenticity in materials and structure and a fake pocket doesn’t fit well with that. Were you looking for a blazer like this before you tried it out? Will you keep wearing it?

      Hi Talia,
Thank you so much and thank you for stopping by. I hear you on the pockets. It’s something that bugs me as well and if this blazer had functional pockets I would give it a 100%. I do however really love the fit of this blazer. I like how they balanced the oversized aspect with the structure elements that define a blazer. I will keep wearing it and it is actually going to be in my winter capsule as well. I want to keep playing around with styling and layering it!

      Hi Talia,
Another update just in case you were interested in getting this blazer. I had another reader let me know that the pockets ARE functional! Mine are just insanely sewed down so and extra plus for this blazer 🙂

Nice blazer. How about the sleeves? Do they run long or short?

      Hi Jacqueline,
So sorry for the delay in response and thank you for stopping by! I find that the sleeves are a perfect length for me. If I had gone with a size four (which is my true size) they probably would have been a little long. If you have any other questions please let me know!

Love your post! Very curious, is this the same bag you have featured in the photos?
    Thanks 🙂

      Hi Emilia,
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it and yes that is the bag! I’ve used it so many times and it has held up extremely well. One of my favorite bags 🙂

Hmmm – I have this blazer and love it (wear way too much!) but I just had to let you know…. I seam-ripped the exterior pockets and they are definitely functional!!! They are cool because you can either tuck in the flap for a clean look, or keep the flaps out for a traditional look. Hope that helps!

Hi!Oh jeez thank you so much for letting me know! I checked three separate times and mine are soooo sewn shut that I figured they were fake. I’m going to update my review to reflect this. So happy they are functional!
