SPRING TRANSITION: LINEN PANTS
Last week turned out to be way crazier than anticipated. It meant late nights of working and absolutely no time for the blog. So now I’m playing a little bit of catch up and can hopefully get back on track! Today I’m happy to share my next spring transition post which is focusing on my linen Florence Pants from Elizabeth Suzann.
I’ve wanted to wear these pants again ever since I put them away last fall but linen, even black linen, is just not practical for the winters in Chicago. However, I have found some ways to bring them back before we hit full on summer weather and I’m sharing my tricks for how to winter-fy, not a word but you know what I mean, your linen pants below :)
| LINEN HACK | - I’ve found that if I wear a pair of leggings under my linen I stay much warmer when the wind is still blowing and it’s 40 degrees. I was worried that the materials would stick awkwardly together but I haven’t had this happen. I do have to be careful with the legging to crop wide leg pants ratio. I don’t want any leggings peeking out! But so far this hack has been a success!
| COLORS | - I didn’t want this look to feel too dark or heavy since I’m still trying to embody all of the spring feels. So I focused on a light colored turtleneck and light colored sweater. The turtleneck + sweater combo also helps with the warmth factor but if I get a little too toasty the look is great with just the turtleneck. High waist pants forever!
| WHITE SNEAKERS | - Whenever I see a white sneaker look on Pinterest I always think it looks refreshing. It’s an unexpected ode to summer and the white just makes them pop. My first instinct when putting this look together was to wear my black ankle booties instead. But those boots are not in my capsule right now and the look would have felt much darker and more dressy. I like that the sneakers make it feel more casual and they blend in well with the light grey turtleneck & marbled sweater.
| STRIPES | - this shirt was in my spring capsule last year and is one of my favorites. I love the contrast between the light blue and white stripes against the solid black pants. And these pants just beg you to tuck in your shirt to show off the slim looking waist. Isn't it funny how tucking in a shirt can instantly make an otherwise frumpy outfit look polished?
| CLOGS | - I found these clogs secondhand and absolutely love them. They are from No6 which is one of my favorite handmade clog companies. So far I’ve been very happy with the clogs that I've added to my closet. They’ve really become my go to shoe for spring/summer. These do have a heel but it’s very approachable and a little more casual which is a balance I always strive for in the warmer months.
| ROUND MARKET TOTE | - I've had this bag for a little over a year and it has been great for weekend markets and running errands. I love the unexpected shape and the organic feel of dried palm leaves which the bag is woven from. To me bags like this just ooze spring and summer time. All I need is a fresh bouquet of flowers and I'm all set!
