Today I’m excited to share the waaayy over due Winter Capsule post. I’ve been in a little funk lately which has unfortunately seeped into my productivity and blog. The inspiration just isn’t there and it took me a silly amount of time to pull this winter capsule post together. I’m hoping with the new year I feel more refreshed and ready to start anew. I’m also working on finding ways to help myself bounce back from weird/funky moods. If I get my thoughts together I may share them here as well since I know we all go through weird moods every once in a while 🙂
I’m also hoping to create many more outfit posts for inspiration and get back to my roots of versatility. Taking a piece from my wardrobe and exploring its’ outfit possibilities is my favorite thing to do and I feel that I’ve drifted away from that. One of my main goals is to go back to focusing on versatility and learning about how the components of a capsule can function well together.
But enough ramblings and on to the super fun stuff, new capsule wardrobe! It’s like new without being new! Below are the pieces that I picked for my winter capsule, my wish list items for this season and some outfits that have my inspiration gears going.
The vast majority of my tops are sweaters this year. I actually only have two shirts in my wardrobe (que the lol face). I just love sweaters and how cozy they are. We’ll see if I regret this decision or if I need to swap out a sweater!

My bottoms have become pretty standard. Mostly wide leg with some straight crop cuts and only one pair of skinny jeans! My bottoms have probably transformed the most over the past two years! One twist I did add this capsule is that I brought back two pairs of linen pants! Que that lol face again. I’m sharing a post soon on how I’m styling my linen pants this year!

Still working on trying to perfect my coat game. This number of coats/jackets may again seem excessive but I love outerwear. Also, in the fall/winter you coat basically becomes your whole outfit! As I adjust to the weather in Portland I’ll be able to refine my coats/jackets a little more but until then I’m keeping my options open.
| ida wool trench | elizabeth suzann | size: os
| chore coat | c/o tradlands | size: small | made in the USA
Since I wore my white sneakers all of the time this fall I decided to carry on with sneakers in my winter capsule. I reintroduced two sneakers that I’ve had in my closet forever, my black slip on vans and white converse and kept my Skye sneakers in the mix. I almost sold my Vans several times but for some reason held on to them. Now I’m super glad I did! That is the trickiest thing with purging your closet. You hope you don’t get rid of something that you will miss later down the road. When I purge my closet and usually go with my gut feeling. If I don’t get rid of it this time maybe I will be ready to next time or maybe it will resurface in my wardrobe and I’ll think of a new way to style it. Always go with your gut (but make sure your gut lets you purge some things!)

Winter Wish List
I like to create these wish lists to keep track of pieces or items that I am constantly drawn too. If I’ve noticed that an item or category has been on my wish list for several seasons now then I’m more apt to add it to my wardrobe in the future. I do get a small shopping budget each month so if I feel strongly about an item on my wish list (or if elizabeth suzann has a sale) I may pull the trigger. It is not my goal to obtain everything on this list but to be more mindful about the things I need and/or want.
I’ve been casually wearing my Sotela dress over tights with sneakers then layered with cozy cardigans and sweater coats and I’ve been loving it! I have my eye out for similar midi length dresses that would be great for layering.
I’m still feeling my warm cream tones and am keeping my eyes open for a cream duster coat. If I find the perfect piece (and my budget allows!) I may snatch one up this season then plan on carrying it into spring! I’ve been loving pops of winter white and since your outer layer pretty much becomes your entire wardrobe in the colder months, I’d love to bring this pop into an outerwear piece as well.
I’ve made some great work in terms of my bold statement earrings collection but I would love to refine my rings. I have all of the heart eyes for these pieces and will be saving up my pennies for some of them!
