Maybe I’m crazy but I wanted to try out some of my linen bottoms in winter. Winter in Portland is much more mild than in Chicago (at least so far) so I’m able to get away with base layers under my linen pieces. I love finding ways to add longevity to items in my closet. Turns out layering tights under linen keeps me nice and toasty when it’s 30-40 degrees outside! Here’s one of the linen looks that I’ve been wearing lately and a few style notes plus where you can find these pieces or similar versions.

Style Notes

| LIGHT TONES | Since January can be such a drag, I’m having fun playing with lighter tones to break up my solid black looks. The warm tones of the tans and creams add so much coziness to this look outside of the outfit being mostly made up of sweaters!

| ACCESSORY SYMMETRY | This is an example of me nerding out over accessories. But I really enjoy my circular drop hoop earrings paired with my round handbag from Opelle. It’s subtle geometric symmetry that helps the outfit seem more cohesive without being obvious.

| BLACK ACCENTS | You will often see black accents in my looks especially as we slowly start to transition into spring and summer. It seems that I can never quite escape the color black! In this look I’ve kept them extremely subtle with my black handbag, black opaque tights and black nail polish.

| COZY LAYERS | I’m so happy that I’m able to get away with adding extra layers this winter instead of bringing out the dreaded knee length parka! The majority of my coats this season are sweater coats because 1. they are just so cozy and 2. I love how they’re acceptable to wear indoors as well as out. I would feel comfortable working all day in this outfit at my desk (with some slippers instead of sneaks) and be just as comfortable running errands or grocery shopping.
