My favorite elizabeth suzann pieces

March 28, 2020 No Comments

Given the current state of our economy, I wanted to share my favorite brand and some outfit inspiration in case you are able to support them financially and would like to purchase a garment or gift card 🙂

First, some quick ES love & background. I have been an Elizabeth Suzann customer for four years now and have slowly built a collection of ES pieces that I am very proud of. What sets this brand apart in my mind is their thoughtfulness, transparency and quality. These aren’t just words to the team behind Elizabeth Suzann. They truly take their process & manufacturing to the next level. Below are some blog posts written by Liz, the owner of ES, that I would highly recommend if you’d like to learn more about this company.

Next a quick note before we jump into the good stuff. This is NOT the time to plunge yourself into frivolous debt. At least that’s my advice. Many people can not afford to support all of the small businesses or even any of the businesses that they would like to and there is no shame in that. If you are in a position where you can and want to support ES financial, awesome, but if not, below are additional ways – outside of purchasing a garment or buying a gift card – that you can do so.

  1. Donate $5 to ES’s Masks Program
  2. Follow & Share their Content on Social Platforms
  3. If you have ES pieces, share your outfits for others to be inspired by (popular hashtags: #elizabethsuzann, #esstyle, #esmamas)
UPDATE: Liz has extended her 10% discount on gift cards now through sunday, April 5th. Just use code giftcard10 at checkout

Liz does not have sales often so if you’ve been eyeing a piece, this may be the time to do so. She will also be adding some more inventory to their sample sale in the future!

Now for the fun stuff! Below are my favorite pieces by ES and some spring outfit inspiration created with said pieces.

favorite pieces

Petra Crop Top

My favorite silhouette is a crop top and high waist so this top gets a ton of use in spring and summer. My specific petra is from the SS’16 release so it is a hemp blend but they still offer this style in both linen and silk. I love the full band at the bottom giving the top a more structured look. I also love slightly wider shoulder strap because it hides bra straps and is easy to layer over a slip dress without any straps showing. My favorite combination is this top paired with my linen florence pants or my cotton canvas Andy Trousers for a faux jumpsuit look.

Short Sleeve Linen Harper

Oh Harper. I’ve probably talked your ear off about this top but it’s just that good. Long flowy silhouette, pocket for practicality, elevates leggings when pants seem impossible. Basically everything you want in a garment. I particularly love it because when I’m not feeling my pear shape I love throwing on a long tunic and leggings or shorts in the summer. It gives me a nice straight silhouette that I’m very drawn too. Besides pairing it with leggings, I love wearing it over my linen Andys and linen florence shorts. If you want to kick up the dramatics a notch I recommend pairing the Harper over any Florence pants or the Andy Palazzos.

Linen Georgia Tee

This was the first garment I ever purchased from ES. It’s a classic piece that can be worn to a variety of outings from hiking to errand running and dinner. I treat it like I would a basic t-shirt in my wardrobe but I feel slightly elevated due to its’ winged sleeve. It’s a subtle design detail that raises the design just a tad to feel a little more polished than a basic tee but never over the top. This top can work with any pant you have in your closet. I also love wearing it with my linen Florence pants to create another fun faux jumpsuit or my Andy Trousers for the same illusion and it looks great with my silk Belle skirt for a dressier evening.

Andy Trousers (Linen & Cotton Canvasrelaunching)

These pants are slowly becoming my favorite over my Florences which is a sentence I never thought I would say. The pleats and references to a classic 90s suit pant give me all the warm feels. I love my linen pair because they have a dressier vibe to them but are so comfortable. Another aspect to these pants that I love is the tapered but still a slightly wide leg. It’s a really nice balance putting them in a slightly different category of pants for me. It also makes them extra versatile since I can wear a high shaft boot with them without worrying about bunching but they aren’t a full wide leg pant opening. I plan on expanding my Andys collection to include silk and wool at some point in the future!

Linen Florence Pants

My first pants purchase from ES. I was very into wide leg pants at the time and still love them to this day. They are my most worn pants by far in my wardrobe and I wear them all year long by layering underneath for winter.

Linen Tildas* no longer sold, linked to similar style

Another pant purchase that I wear a ton. I like to think of them as my “one notch above leggings but not 100% real pants” pants. Like all of my linen purchases, these are super comfortable and have worn in beautifully. This style has been discontinued but the linen clyde pants have a very similar silhouette and have pockets!

Quick Note on my Favorite Bottoms – surprisingly, all of my favorite bottoms have no pockets. I haven’t found this to be a problem as I normally keep everything in my purse or jacket/coat pockets if it’s cold. Also, the lovely Harper or Harper Apron or Elodie belt, can help solve your no pockets issue if you’re really worried about it 😉

Linen Georgia Dress

This piece was also in my first order from ES. It is all of the good stuff of the Georgia tee in dress form. I’ve dressed it up for date nights & wore it as a beach cover up on our honeymoon. I own this piece in two colors (olive & navy) and will most likely be purchasing more in the future.

Cotton Canvas Clyde Jacket

This one took me a minute to figure out how to incorporate it into my style but now I’ve found it’s a great throw on layer in Spring & Fall. Most of my coats & jackets are a longer length but it has been nice to switch things up with a shorter outer layer. Again, another piece that is easy to dress up or keep it super casual.

Linen Clyde Trench

I recently purchased this piece in ES’ online sample sale. I haven’t worn it a ton yet but I love my wool Ida trench so much that I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of this piece in the Spring & Summer. I plan to use it as a swimsuit cover up and outer layer for cool summer nights.

Harper Jacket

I love this jacket for the beautifully designed collar and pockets! It feels like a modern take on a classic trench coat style with the split hem in the back.

Ida Wool Trench

This is probably my main coat in the winter. Instead of automatically going to a big puffy coat, I like to do sweater layers and have this as my topper. Even though it doesn’t have a closure, I like to use a crossbody bag to keep the coat secure and wear a big fluffy scarf to keep my neck and chest warm. ES also offers a variety of wrap belts to pair with their coats if you want something that is a little more secure!
